I'm trying to grasp what got said/done here as I'm reading very divergent accounts. Is there a tape up anywhere? How long did they talk? Did they answer questions?
They showed a video presentation of philip talking up the Level Playing Field Institute and then another video about how they help minorities attend college.
After that Philip and Mitch spoke for about 10-15 mins and then answered questions for 10 mins or so. 3 questions I heard.
There was really very little meat to it. One person asked what spark Mitch saw in Philip and what kind of spark he looks for in students who participate in the program. Mitch said something about love or passion or whatever.
I had the question to ask Mitch Kapor who his spiritual and political grandfathers were, what ideologies/religious beliefs/books/people influenced his outlook. So I guess I could just try sending him an email with that question.
As for sparks, that sound like Martin Buber's concept of "raising the sparks," which I guess is actually an ancient Hasidic teaching.
